Originally a Wii U title, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe made the jump to Switch in 2017 and has since become one of the best-selling games in Nintendo’s history — and years later, it’s still considered by many critics to be the definitive version of the series.
Content and Value
This is the complete package. The Switch version includes all DLC content from the original Wii U game, 42 playable characters, 48 playable tracks, new gameplay modes, new items, and a new battle mode — spread across twelve cups, each with four Nintendo-themed stages. Gameplay
Critics consistently praise how well the core racing feel holds up. The sensation of drifting just long enough to trigger a speed boost, sneaking past a rival on a tight corner, or firing off a power-up at exactly the right moment still feels as satisfying as ever — and even the once-dreaded blue shell has been rebalanced, now countered more easily with the right skill and timing. Multiplayer
This is where the game truly shines as a Switch title.
